Welcome to the site of Patra & Chanda! Since our inception in 1970, we have been focused on the Manufacturing and Engineering of Locomotive components. Our journey began with the indigenization of various components used in Electric and Diesel Locomotives of the Indian Railways, thus saving valuable foreign exchange for the nation. Our principal customers were Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) and Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) and our products were mechanical and electrical parts which found application in all types of locomotives used by the Indian Railways. A major thrust in our engineering and manufacturing came in the 1990s with the introduction of the latest technology of IGBT based Electric Locomotives by CLW and we broadened our product spectrum with electronic parts as well as electrical and mechanical. We have been a pioneer in Make in India well ahead of the slogan and feel proud of it being Indians! With the liberalization of the economy in the 1990s and the globalization of manufacturing in India, we could successfully align ourselves to the winds of change and widened our client spectrum. Presently our customers include Multinational luminaries as Siemens, Bombardier, Schneider, Crompton Greaves, BHEL who have not only given us marketing impetus but also technical strength. Alongside with this diversification in marketing, we have continually improved our manufacturing and engineering skills with addition of state-of-the-art machinery and test equipment to increase our productivity with rigid quality control to keep our customers satisfied in this fiercely competitive market. As another step towards customer satisfaction and continual improvement of our processes, we have rigorously implemented the ISO 9001 Standard.
