Blocking Doide Diblo 8

BLOCKING DIODES
CLW SPEC NO CLW/ES/3/055C

Description: Electronic Control Circuits are being increasingly used in Locomotives. Generally such circuits need DC Power source for energisation. DC Voltage being unipolar, care must be taken to ensure that the correct polarity of the source is connected to the corresponding polarity of the load circuit. A reverse polarity DC energisation may cause
irreparable damage to the control circuit. Diodes conduct in one direction and block reverse voltage. Hence the DC source is always connected to the load through Blocking Diodes, as they are so called. Such a connection ensures correct polarity and prevents damage.

Technical Data: As there are multiple control circuits, multiple Blocking Diodes are assembled in two units. The current ratings of the two units have been standardized to 1.5A and O.3A respectively and the reverse Blocking Voltage is 1600V. Five Nos. 1.5A rated diodes are assembled on a glass fibre sheet with soldered terminals taken out to a well insulated terminal block for external connection (DIBLO 5). Eight Nos. O.3A rated diodes are assembled on a PCB (Printed Circuit Board) and leads are taken out to a well insulated terminal block for external connection (DIBLO 8).
