This 3-way rotating switch has 3 modes or states of operation namely C,O & D. The uniqueness
of the switch is double interruption, obligation opening and bounce freeness of the contacts.
The switch contacts are sealed type and equipped with double contacting (H-contact) made of
H. AgNi 0.15. Their plastics consist of Glass Filled Nylon. They fulfill the fire protection standard
and are withstanding tropical condition.
The Cab Activating Key Switch has a safety lock operated with red coloured code Key made of
speciatized material Nickel Silver to give trouble free operation of key for a longer period.
The 3 modes or states of operation (C, 0 & D) of the Switch are as follows:
o = Middle position when Locomotive is 'Off' condition. On that position contacts of the switch
5-6,7-8, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16 are shorted separately.
C = Left shift position. On those position contacts 3-4, 9-10,15-16 are shorted separately.
In the above position Electric Locomotive operate in cooling mode.
When the temperature of the control unit of Electric Locomotive is above 60°C then by putting
the switch on "C" position, the MlR Blower & Scavenge for MlR Blower Fan is switched ON
which brings down the temperature to below 60°C. Only after that the locomotive can be
charged through control electronics.
D = Right shift position. On those position contacts 1 - 2, 9 - 10 are shorted.
On that position the Locomotive starts and operates at its normal condition.
